New York Magazine Releases First E-book, American Media Shifts to Digital, Tablet Advertising Engagement, Pinterest Roundup for July
Welcome to TFP’s weekly roundup of interesting and noteworthy stories from the publishing world. This week we’re discussing New York‘s first e-book, American Media’s new digital focus, IAB’s research on tablet ad engagement, and more.
- In collaboration with digital publishing company Byliner, New York magazine released its first e-book, New York Magazine’s Most Popular. The e-book is a best-of collection of articles from the past five years. Sales of the e-book, which is currently available for $7.99, will be split between Byliner and New York.
- Shifting a substantial focus to digital, American Media, publisher of Shape and Star, named its first chief digital officer and announced plans to add 60 more employees to its new digital team. The company currently earns 3% of its revenue from digital but hopes to make significant gains with its increased digital focus.
- In a recent study from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and its Mobile Marketing Center of Excellence, 47% of tablet users said they engage with advertisements more than once a week, and among those who engaged, 89% took action. These are powerful metrics for advertisers and publishers alike.
- This month’s Pinterest Roundup offers a curated list of all of the relevant news surrounding the increasingly prominent social network.
