Amazon’s Paperwhite, Next Issue Adds 31 Titles, Cosmopolitan’s New EIC, InDesign CS5.5 Tip, Creative Cloud Offer
Welcome to TFP’s weekly roundup of interesting and noteworthy stories from the publishing world. This week, we’re discussing Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite, Next Issue’s growing list of available titles, Cosmopolitan‘s and Marie Claire‘s new EICs, and more.
- In a press conference on Thursday, Amazon announced the next generation of its Kindle e-reader. The Kindle Paperwhite features frontlighting and a new display that offers better contrast and brightness, with 62% more pixels. The Paperwhite starts at $119 and ships on Oct. 1.
- In the 3.0 version of its iOS app, released this week, Next Issue added 31 magazines to its list of available titles, including Marie Claire, Vogue, Good Housekeeping, and O, The Oprah Magazine.
- After 14 years as editor in chief of Cosmopolitan, Kate White is stepping down, making room for Marie Claire EIC Joanna Coles to take over. Anne Fulenwider, who previously worked under Coles as executive editor at Marie Claire, is slated to fill the EIC role there.
