- According to a recent Pew study, 33% of Americans now own tablets or e-readers. But unfortunately for Barnes & Noble, it seems that holiday shoppers weren’t clamoring for its Nook e-reader; this week the company reported disappointing sales of the Nook and in its brick-and-mortar stores.
- While TechCrunch Editor John Biggs takes a rather wistful look at the ongoing shift from paper-based media to digital and predicts the closure of more brick-and-mortar bookstores in 2013, the reader comments about the post attest to the enduring appeal of the tactile nature of a physical book or magazine and point to a future with room for both old and new media.
- For the techies and HTML5 aficionados out there, Treehouse has provided an overview of eight new HTML5 input types that will enable users to enter form data more easily on their mobile devices. Take a look to see if these might help you develop more user-friendly content.
- On TFP’s InDesign Tips blog, we explain how to take advantage of a new feature in InDesign CS6, Primary Text Frames. And check out the latest posts on TFP’s DPS Tips blog to learn more about updating a folio once it’s been published, and how to unpublish or delete a folio.
