Exceptional Women in Publishing (EWIP) has announced that Federated Media Publishing’s Deanna Brown is this year’s winner of the Exceptional Woman in Publishing award.
According to the EWIP’s website, every year the organization selects an honoree “who has achieved prominence in her career, has made extraordinary contributions to publishing, and has demonstrated success and leadership in nontraditional and/or exceptional ways.” The first recipient of the award was Gloria Steinem, in 1999.

As CEO of Federated Media, Brown oversees the online advertising network’s strategic business goals and day-to-day operations. Prior to joining Federated in 2009, she was President at Scripps Networks Digital. In 1995, she co-founded CondéNet, the digital division of Condé Nast. She also founded Powerful Media/Inside.com and Gaming Industry News and has held executive roles at Yahoo and AOL.
The award ceremony will be held on March 6 in San Francisco at EWIP’s 2013 Women’s Leadership Conference.
