Welcome to TFP’s weekly roundup of interesting and noteworthy stories from the publishing world. This week, we’re discussing tools for creating visual content, TFP’s latest InDesign and DPS tips, monetizing publishers’ page views, and more.
- Two tools aimed at helping content creators present information in a visually compelling way are generating some buzz: visual storytelling platform Storyplanet, which is expected to become available this year; and Easel.ly, a WYSIWYG tool for creating infographics that’s currently in beta.
- News site PandoDaily has identified seven publishing trends that will define 2013: micropublishing, subscriptionization, serialization, multimedia, longform, curation, and micropayments. Think that list is on target? Let us know in the comments section below.
- We have two new tips for you on TFP’s DPS Tips blog: We’ll walk you through the steps for creating pull tabs with scrollable frames, and we offer info on publishing folios to Adobe’s Distribution Service.
- On TFP’s InDesign Tips blog, we explain how to use the Span Columns feature to extend headlines across multiple columns or create subcolumns of text within a single column.
- Publishers are experiencing impressive growth in mobile readership, but where’s the payoff from all of those page views? While one blog post on Adweek this week mulled over that question, the next day’s post hinted at a potential answer: analytics.
- It’s not too late to register for our Jan. 17 training webinar DPSPublish™: Publishing Folios With Adobe DPS. TFP’s Margot Knorr Mancini will show you what you need to know in order to publish your Adobe Digital Publishing Suite digital publication app. Sign up now!
