Recent hiring news highlights women’s roles in the evolving media landscape. Here, we offer a roundup of some of the latest announcements:
- Nancy Perry Graham is taking on the role of Editor in Chief and Executive Producer of Digital Media for AARP’s Life Reimagined. Her previous roles include EIC and Deputy Editor of AARP The Magazine. Lifereimagined.org, which AARP describes as a “single source of online/offline tools and experiences offer a unique step-by-step approach to achieving goals and dreams at any age,” launched last week.
- Susan Glasser will join Politico next month as a “top editor charged with creating and running new editorial divisions that produce deep, magazine-style journalism and in-the-moment opinion pieces,” according to a press release. Currently EIC of Foreign Policy magazine, Glasser will also continue to write about foreign policy and national security issues.
- Kim Murphy has been named National Editor at the Los Angeles Times. She has been with the newspaper since 1983, most recently serving as its Seattle Bureau Chief. She won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2005 for her coverage of terrorism in Russia.
- Liz Heron has been promoted to the newly created role of Editor, Emerging Media, for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. She joined the organization as Director, Social Media and Engagement, for The Wall Street Journal Digital Network in March 2012. She previously served as Social Media Editor for The New York Times.
- Courtney Weinblatt has returned to Marie Claire as Market Director. She comes to the magazine from Isaay.com, where she was Fashion Director. Prior to that role, she was Senior Market Editor at Marie Claire.
