Welcome to TFP’s weekly roundup of interesting and noteworthy stories from the publishing world. This week, we’re looking at Apple’s newly released iOS 7, app usage trends, Adobe DPS v28, and more.
- Apple’s much-anticipated iOS 7 was finally released this week. The company has published handy user guides for iPad and iPod Touch users to help them get up to speed, and Cult of Mac has a roundup of more than 20 tips and tricks to help you make the most of the new operating system.
- In addition, Apple is offering a way for users of older devices to continue to run their iOS apps, following the release of iOS 7. Users who try downloading an app that isn’t supported by their device’s firmware will be asked if they’d like to install the last compatible version of the app.
- According to a new study on app usage, “The average session length on tablet news apps decreased by 16%, on average, over the past year,” said Localytics CEO Raj Aggarwal. “But total time spent on tablet news apps increased by 14%, on average,” which indicates that users are checking the apps more often but in shorter bursts.
