Welcome to TFP’s latest roundup of hiring news highlighting women’s roles in the evolving media landscape. Here’s what’s been happening over the past couple of weeks:
- Joanne Bradford has been hired to serve as Head of Partnerships at Pinterest. In that role, she will lead advertiser and media partnership initiatives for the social media site. Bradford has been President of the San Francisco Chronicle only since this past May. Prior to joining the Hearst newspaper, she was Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer at Demand Media.
- Jane Francisco has been named Editor in Chief of Hearst’s Good Housekeeping. Her previous roles include EIC at lifestyle magazine Chatelaine in Canada and at Style at Home.
- Christine Guilfoyle has been promoted from Vice President and Group Publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray to Senior Vice President and Publisher of Better Homes and Gardens and Group Publisher of Meredith’s Women’s Group. She will also oversee advertising for Meredith’s Family Circle and Ladies’ Home Journal magazines.
- Carin Gorrell has been named Editor in Chief of Active Interest Media’s Yoga Journal. She was previously Features Director at Self magazine.
- Jillian Davison is the new Fashion Director at Glamour. She joins the magazine from Vogue Australia, where she was Creative Director.
- Ann Brady is the new Executive Editor at Livingly Media’s fashion and beauty site StyleBistro. Mostly recently, she was Special Projects Editor at Beso.com. Brady has also held roles at StyleFind.com and Lucky magazine.
- Radhika Jones has been promoted from Executive Editor to Deputy Managing Editor of Time magazine. She was previously with The Paris Review.
- A new online publication focusing on global women’s issues launched Nov. 1. Valerie magazine will “feature female writers, bloggers, photographers; bring you stories of inspiring women; and feature economic, social and political issues impacting lives of women across the globe.”
- As part of Adweek‘s 35th anniversary celebration, Cosmopolitan Editor in Chief Joanna Coles contributed an essay in which she discusses the publishing industry’s digital future.
- Adweek also has a profile of Time‘s Nancy Gibbs, who was named the magazine’s Managing Editor in September.
- Glamour Editor in Chief Cindi Leive recently co-hosted the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage in Journalism Awards. Najiba Ayubi of Afghanistan, Nour Kelze of Syria, and Bopha Phorn of Cambodia were the recipients of the awards. The organization also presented a lifetime achievement award to Edna Machirori, the first black female editor of a newspaper in Zimbabwe.
- Glamour also recently announced the 12 winners of its Women of the Year awards. The recipients include 16-year-old education activist Malala Yousafzai and philanthropist Melinda Gates.
