While traditional print and broadcast media still accounted for two-thirds of all advertising buys in 2014, almost all growth in local ads has been online, with a 40% increase in 2014 and a projected growth rate of 42% this year. The post looks at the evolution of local ad spend by medium and breaks down the digital share of total ad spending by 10 leading media companies, noting that three years ago, traditional media outlets sold half of all digital ads but this year will account for only 25% of that spending as “pure plays” gain greater market share.
