Adobe Experience Manager Mobile Version 2016.12, released Oct. 4, includes new and improved features, and several bug fixes.
Features
iOS and Android Push Notifications via Marketing Cloud
In addition to the Notifications feature in the On-Demand Services Portal, push messages can now be sent to both iOS and Android app users via the Adobe Mobile Marketing Cloud. To purposely re-engage passive users or convey time- and location-specific information, push messages appear outside of your app and, with the help of defined analytics segments or custom segments, can be targeted to a specific group of users. Marketing Cloud-based push messages use Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) for Android apps and Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) for iOS apps.
Layout Template and Other Portal UI Enhancements
Note: New features in the On-Demand Services Portal from this and earlier releases:
- When a layout template is opened for editing, you can choose to use the last imported collection or import a different collection.
- A Preflight button was added to the Browse Page Layout Tool window, allowing you to easily preview layout changes while editing layout templates.
- A new layout preview option in the Browse Page Layout Tool window lets you show or hide the app HUD (heads-up display, or top navigation bar).
- Project settings now include a Trash icon that allows you to delete a file and select a new one to use as the brand image.
iOS App Performance Enhancements
The iOS app user experience has been improved with faster loading HTML articles.
Android App Support for Android 7.0 (Nougat)
Android apps built using 2016.12 support the Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system. AEM Mobile apps will support split-screen mode, including resizing videos on the fly in split-screen mode.
Desktop Web Viewer Enhancements
The navto://relative/parent link format is now supported in Desktop Web Viewer, and entitlement caching performance has been improved. These features are currently supported in other platforms.
Bug Fixes
This release also includes several viewer bug fixes. For the complete list, see Adobe’s Bug Fix Release Notes page.
